WHO ARE WE?

Ciudad Museo is a non-profit Puerto Rican organization, registered under the Government of Puerto Rico and located in Añasco. It holds state tax exemption under Section 1101.01 of the Puerto Rico Internal Revenue Code and federal tax exemption under 501(c)(3). Since its founding in 2015, it has stood out for the rehabilitation of spaces through muralism, self-managing significant projects both within and outside Puerto Rico. Composed of a multidisciplinary team, Ciudad Museo is dedicated to the decentralization of art by creating creative opportunities, primarily in the western region of the country. Its goal is to make these opportunities accessible to all those who appreciate art and culture, leading projects such as the restoration of the Mirador de Añasco, the Afro Mural, educational workshops, and a variety of community works and events.

OF ART IN YOUR STREETS
0 YEARS

A decade ago, Ciudad Museo emerged as a community project started by a group of students from the former Sergio Ramírez de Arellano-Hostos Bilingual School in Añasco. Its initial mission was to revitalize abandoned spaces through muralism, transforming “dead areas” into open-air art galleries. However, due to the lack of artistic resources in the area, this initiative evolved to offer a wide range of artistic services, mainly focused on the visual arts. In 2018, the project was finally consolidated as a nonprofit organization, establishing its headquarters, the Taller de Arte Ciudad Museo, in Añasco. Since then, Ciudad Museo has managed to balance activities between its headquarters and artistic interventions in the streets, staying at the forefront of the creative industry in Puerto Rico.
